811 Positive Response Portal
Every dig ticket, every state, one clear-to-dig answer.
Every dig ticket the company files, in every state it works, on one screen that answers the only question that matters before a crew breaks ground: are we clear to dig?
- Custom Software service
- Custom application engagement
- Completed status
The need. An excavation contractor working in many states files hundreds of 811 locate tickets a month, and every state runs its own portal with its own login and rules. Before a crew can dig, someone has to confirm that every utility on the ticket has responded. That meant logging into each portal, searching by ticket, and reading responses one at a time. Crews waited on the office, and a missed response is the kind of mistake that ends up in the news.
What we built. A portal that watches the one-call centers for the company's tickets across nineteen states plus a regional center, gathers them into one dashboard and shows the status of each in plain terms. Dig sites are drawn on a map. Each ticket shows which utilities have responded and which have not, and can be printed or saved as a PDF for the truck. A reports page shows how many tickets are clear to dig and which utilities are slow to respond, which is useful when a job is being held up. The office manages the company name keywords from a settings screen; nothing needs a developer.
What changed. Clear-to-dig checks take seconds instead of a morning. Crews get a printed ticket with every utility response on it. Management has data to hold slow utilities accountable. The system only reads from the one-call centers; it never changes a ticket, so there is no compliance risk in using it.
